The New Zealand Government has introduced significant amendments to the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990. These changes include stricter regulations on advertising, retail visibility, and a complete ban on disposable vapes.
Here are some important notes on the changes and how they will impact you:
- Limitations on how vaping products are displayed online
- Limitations on how vaping products are stored in a shop
- Changes to promotions, discounts, and rewards programmes
- Disposable vape ban (we’re actually happy about this one!)
Here are a few bullet points that explain it a little more:
- ONLINE: We can no longer display vaping products on our website – including product images, or any image that is designed to represent a vaping product
- IN-STORE: Vaping products, and packaging can no longer be seen from outside our shop(s). The next time you visit us you will notice that we have frosting on all windows
- PROMOTIONS: One-off type discounts, free product giveaways, and rewards on vaping products are now banned
- DISPOSABLES: If you can’t recharge it and refill it, its gooone. Pre-filled pod style devices are still good. The Ministry recognises ‘replacing the pods’ as ‘refilling’
