When shopping for vape juices, it can be hard to know where to begin. There are so many choices – one such choice is the option of a high VG vape juice.

VG stands for Vegetable Glycerin, and it’s one of the common ingredients used in juices to carry the flavour and nicotine. Most vape juices contain around 50% VG, but some juices have a higher concentration – around 70% VG.

We’ve already written about the difference between High VG and High PG vape juices. If you’re thinking of buying a high-VG juice, here are our tips to help you make the right decision for yourself.

1. Are you new to vaping?

Most beginner vapers find that the 50/50 mix of normal juices gives them everything they need in a vape. As a new vaper, it’s definitely worth experimenting with different juices to find out what you like. Just be aware that many new vapers prefer the normal or high-PG juices because of the better throat hit that is reminiscent of smoking.

2. Do you love clouds?

High-VG vape juices makes great vape clouds. If you love blowing smoke rings or doing other vape tricks, then high-VG juice is the right choice for you.

3. Do you prefer fruity or sweet flavours?

VG is inherently sweet, so while PG tends to carry flavour better, it can also overpower sweet flavours. In contrast, VG will actually perfectly accompany a sweet flavour. If you’re crazy about sweet flavours in particular, you may really enjoy the extra intensity of a high-VG juice.

4. Is the throat hit important?

If you used to be a smoker, you probably crave the deep throat hit that comes from the PG content in vape juice. The more PG in your juice, the punchier your throat hit will be. You may feel a scratchy sensation that can be a bit unpleasant if you weren’t a smoker before you started vaping.

In contrast, high-VG has a much smoother, mellow throat hit. If you don’t like or you’re not fussed about the throat hit then you won’t have to consider that when choosing your vape juice.

5. Do you have a sub-ohm tank?

High-VG juice is thicker than high-PG vape juices. This means it won’t soak into your wick as quickly, and you’ll experience a lot of dry-puffing in a basic atomiser. You need a sub-ohm tank with better wicking if you want a great vaping experience.

Most vapers will stick to the typical PG/VG range, at least when starting out. High-VG liquids are mainly popular if you love sweet flavours or want thicker clouds. Try lots of different vape juices to figure out what you like best.
