Vaping safety tips

While we all know vaping carries significantly fewer health risks than smoking, that doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt. You’re dealing with a device that has a battery that, if mishandled, could cause injury to you or someone else. Here are some tips to keep

vaping safe for you and everyone around you.

Don’t reuse e-juice bottles

Mt Baker Vapor tells a crazy story about a customer who used an empty e-liquid bottle to carry around hot sauce to drip in his food. He got bored with that and decided to use the bottle for e-juice again. He cleaned out the bottle and gave it a go – apparently, it tasted “like flatulence.” Don’t do this. Get new bottles.

Do water up!

Vaping can be dehydrating, so make sure you drink plenty of water, especially if you’re vaping while on a hike or in the hot sun.

Don’t let your cats vape

It’s best not to vape around your pets or encourage them to use your device. This is especially important for cats. The PG in e-juice is harmful to felines. Too much vapor and you could make your cat very sick. See our previous article on vaping around pets.

Keep your vape kit away from kids

Lots of little bottles with a candy smell, and buttons and things to play with… in young fingers, your vape kit could be a disaster. Not to mention, you don’t want any of your equipment to be destroyed. Store your vaping gear out of reach of children.

Do keep your gear cool

Heat can warp your batteries and cause irreversible damage. It may also have a negative impact on the taste of some brands of e-juice. Keep your batteries (and yourself) safe by storing your vape gear out of sunlight and in a cool, dry place.

Don’t keep batteries in your pocket

It’s tempting to throw a spare battery into your pocket as you head out the door. But what happens if you throw your keys in that same pocket later in the night?

You could accidentally complete the circuit and give yourself a nasty shock, that’s what could happen.

If it’s playing up, don’t use it!

If your mod starts acting up or it’s doing strange things, don’t shrug it off and keep using it. Put it aside and contact a professional to take a look. It’s better to buy new stuff then to hurt yourself or others with a faulty product or unsafe usage.

Do follow the battery instructions!

Use good battery care – follow the instructions, keep your hardware clean, make sure the batteries are properly wrapped, choose a quality charger, and never leave charging batteries unattended.

If you follow these simple safety tips, you’ll have a safe and enjoyable vape experience.
